LVMAC Tidbit — Something Unusual from LVHN — an Offer of a Free Introductory Yoga Class to Honor Those Who Serve Our Country

Published by LVMAC on

It’s been all the rage lately in veterans’ circles: the benefits of one of the Americanized versions of yoga.  Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN) evidently is experimenting with it.  This article is from them:

LVHN LogoTo honor and thank those who serve our country – as well as those who support them – LVHN invites veterans, active military personnel, their families and other supporters to a free introductory yoga class Nov. 9 from 6-7 p.m. at LVHN Fitness-One City Center, 707 Hamilton Street, Allentown.

In addition to improving strength, flexibility and posture, yoga also has been shown to boost sleep, focus and concentration. Wonder if it can help you? This entry-level introduction is your chance to sample all the benefits yoga can offer.

There is no fee for the class, but space is limited. Please call 610-402-CARE to register.

Please wear comfortable shoes and workout clothes to the class. Free parking is available in the Eighth Street parking garage attached to the PPL Center. Take the garage elevators directly to the fourth floor.

In recognition of Veterans Day, optional donations of non-perishable food items, toiletries and clothing will be collected to benefit area homeless veterans. (Donations are voluntary and not required to attend the class.) The” wish list” of items below was identified by Hope for Veterans as those most needed by people who are homeless. Hope for Veterans will distribute the items later this month. [Editor’s Note: Hope for Veterans is one of three organizations under contract to the Department of Veterans Affairs for Supportive Services for Veterans Families in the Lehigh Valley and further and which has a field office in Allentown]
