LVMAC Tidbit: Meet the Service Academies for a Rewarding Career

Published by Rich Hudzinski on

A ZoomGov virtual seminar will be conducted on 21 May, starting at 10 a.m.  It will explain the process for applying for and obtaining nominations from Congresswoman Wild to the service academies.

The program will include remarks by the Congresswoman, presentations from representatives from the five service academies — U.S. Military Academy (West Point), the U.S. Naval Academy, the U.S. Air Force Academy, the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, and the  Merchant Marine Academy — and the Department of Defense’s Medical Examination Review Board (DoDMERB).  Currently, the military service academy for the U.S. Space Force is the U.S. Air Force Academy.

In addition, a representative from the local Army ROTC detachment (headquartered at Lehigh University) will be there.

While DoDMERB is not widely known to the public, it is responsible for processing those who wish to serve in a medical capacity via admission to the United States Service Academies;  Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) programs; the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS); and other officer accession programs directed by DoD.

This virtual seminar offers an opportunity to ask questions and get direct answers. The Uniformed Services and the Merchant Marine offer a wide array of career choices, and in certain cases such as the Merchant Marine  and U.S. Public Health Service, not in the military alone.  Check all the options out.
