From Ritter School:

For over thirty years, the fifth grade students at Allentown’s Ritter Elementary School have had the honor of learning about the invaluable contributions of our nation’s veterans. Each October, Ritter reaches out to our local veterans and invites them to share their experiences with our students.

We are currently seeking veterans who are comfortable with sharing their life stories with our fifth graders. The students would like to learn more about the branches of service, military life, and the dedication, sacrifice, and courage required of a veteran.

Every veteran will be interviewed by a small group of students. The students will take notes during the interview to prepare a project on the experience. Student projects may include slide shows and/or a presentation board that the students will share at our school’s annual Veteran’s Day Program (the day is yet to be determined). Each project is meant to celebrate the contributions of the interviewed veteran.

Veteran interviews will take place on Thursday, October 10th from 9:30-10:30 AM at Ritter Elementary School. If you or someone you know is a veteran and would be interested in participating in this experience, please contact Ritter Elementary School to confirm attendance at tel:484-765-5666 or email Mrs. Meitzler or Mr. Grab at the addresses below.

Thank you for your time and we look forward to seeing you on Thursday, October 10. Note: Please arrive at 9:15. You will be checked in by our student ambassadors in the lobby and directed to your interviewer. Interviews will begin promptly at 9:30 a.m. Directions to Ritter are at the bottom of this page.
