LVMAC Tidbit — A Special Retreat for Women Veterans

When:  From 22 March at 4:30 p.m. to 24 March at about 9 a.m.

Registration starts 22 March at 4:30 p.m. Bring a DD Form 214 or its equivalent, VA Card, or Military ID Card.  Program starts 22 March at 6:00 p.m.

This one-of-a-kind event is open to any woman veteran of any period of service and sponsored by women veterans for women veterans. You do not have to be affiliated with any organization — this event is not about organizations. Come learn about your benefits, learn about yourself, enjoy the company of other women veterans, be “vet proud,” and also feel the appreciation of the Blair County community.

Agenda is being finalized, but here are some advanced details:

22 March:

Keynote Speaker is Brigadier General Wilma Vaught, USAF (Ret), Vietnam War Veteran and current President of the Women In Military Service For America Memorial Foundation.

Other speakers will discuss military sexual trauma, PTSD, transition, and other topics of interest to women veterans.  All will be done from a woman’s point of view.

Representatives from the Van Zandt VA Medical Center will attend to discuss the importance of the VA’s Women Veterans Program Manager and the MyHealtheVet Coordinator. Recently, the Department of Veterans Affairs has announced a campaign to let women veterans know they’ve come to “The Right Place” when using VA health care — an acknowledgment of the fact that they must do more.

AT EASE:

23 March:

This will be a day of pampering beginning with manicures, pedicures, facials, massages and items that interest women.

In the evening, the local VFW 8724 will provide dinner and entertainment headlined by Ricky Lee, a renowned local Country Western Singer and a Nashville artist.
