As Thomas Hall, chairman of the Vietnam Veterans of America, Inc.’s PTSD and Substance Abuse Committee recently wrote in The VVA Veteran, one must work hard to manage the symptoms of PTSD., but “… As I see it, I don’t have a choice if I want to connect with those I care about and who care for me.  So when I say to myself, “embrace the suck,” I am saying I recognize my symptoms, I give myself permission to say out loud what is going on and accept understanding and help from others — maybe even try out some recommendations — then move on with the rest of my life.”
