After discussions between LVMAC and two of its member organizations,  PANG Region Five’s Soldier and Family Readiness Program staff and Battle Borne, with Community Action of the Lehigh Valley’s  Second Harvest Food Bank’s new director,  Allison Czapp,  MilitaryShare has finally come to the Lehigh Valley.  It will start in April 26.  A quick summary of the program and how to enroll is provided below.  It is open to both serving military and military veterans.  Details on where and when are found here.

The Military Share program with Second Harvest Food Bank is designed to provide fresh, nutritious foods for families with at least one member who has served or is currently serving in the armed forces.

Each eligible military member (or family) will receive the following, once per month:

  • 10 lbs fresh produce
  • 1 gallon fresh milk
  • 1 dozen eggs
  • 2 lbs of meat
  • 20 lb box of shelf stable pantry staples such as soup, pasta, sauce, and cereal
How do you participate?

REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED as there is a limited amount of shares available. Contact Tara Rose as below.  Please be prepared to verify your own or your Service Member’s military service and answer a few easy questions.  (This is a confidential program, signing up does not mean that we share your information with anybody other than what the food bank requires on their end.)

If this MilitaryShare is not accessible for you or your family please reach out to Tara Rose anyway.  She will work to see if Second Harvest or others can find you another food share that would better serve you.
