LVMAC News: Are You the One?

The Council is seeking a special individual who cares about others to help operate its Scholarship Program.  It is a rewarding task, and not burdensome, either.  Does require an organized mind and leadership skills because you are working in a volunteer team environment.  Teachers, administrators, and retired military professionals have found it worthwhile endeavor, but those qualifications are not absolutely necessary.

LVMAC News: Unique Veteran Farmer Training Program Offered by Rodale

It bares repeating that a local organization, the Rodale Institute, offers a unique, organic farmer training program to veterans at no cost.  Privately funded, paid internships are offered and student are assisted with finding housing.  Opportunities like this are part of a broader movement to engage veterans to take up farming as a profession for the welfare of the nation. Forward Observer: Need a Little Help to Get By for the Moment?

Participants at the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce’s Real Estate Outlook event on April 14 heard optimism over the continuing dream of a few to make us East Coast Warehouse Central.  They also heard good news on the increased housing development which is needed to attract the younger workers needed for this valley to prosper.  They did not hear about how we might solve the affordability gap for the average citizen, however.   Other official reports from the area have stated or implied that it has becoming mountingly difficult for the average, hardworking citizen to live here, military servicemembers and veterans among them, with or without families, and regardless of age. LVMAC News: Everyone Loves a Parade (or Should)

After suffering the effect of two years of the COVID-19 Pandemic, the Lehigh Valley Military Affairs Council (LVMAC) will resume its Bethlehem Memorial Day Parade, as asked by the City of Bethlehem many years ago.  This event results from the combined efforts of the United Veterans of Bethlehem and this council.  The parade starts at 9 a.m. at the Liberty High School parking lot and proceeds up Linden St. to Bethlehem Memorial Park.  Those who wish to be in the parade should register now.  After all, Memorial Day was meant to be more than the unofficial beginning of summer, a day at the beach, or a shopping sales day. LVMAC News: Time to Salute the Troops Once Again

The pandemic has put a crimp in our style over the last two years.  Among its victims has been our annual banquet to recognize and celebrate our local servicemembers for their service to our community and the nation.   This year, we think it safe to resume the “Salute to the Troops” Dinner,  an event which is almost as old as LVMAC itself.  The date has been set for May 6 starting at 6 p.m. at the Steel Club in Hellertown.
